Do you know the frustration of buying a beautiful bouquet only for it to wilt within a day, especially during warm weather? It feels like a waste of money and a letdown. Did you know people try the weirdest things to preserve their cut flowers? Here are five of the weirdest:

Spoiler alert! They don't work, Switch to Silk flowers.

1. Sugar

Adding a spoonful of sugar to vase water is a popular trick. The idea is that sugar provides nutrients that mimic photosynthesis, helping the flowers last longer. However, bacterial growth often prevents this from being effective.

2. Vodka

Adding a few drops of vodka to the water can inhibit ethylene production, a gas that speeds up wilting. But too much alcohol can actually make flowers wilt faster.

3. Aspirin

Crushing an aspirin and adding it to the water is believed to lower the water's pH, making it easier for flowers to absorb. Its effectiveness, however, is still debated.

4. Bleach

Adding a small amount of bleach to the water kills bacteria and keeps the water clear. The downside? Your flowers might end up smelling like a swimming pool.

5. Hair Spray

A light mist of hair spray on the undersides of petals can help them maintain their shape and slow wilting. This trick is often used for special occasions like events and weddings.

The trick that always works: Silk flowers

Do you want to try the tricks listed above, or do you rather drink your vodka and use your hairspray to style your hair? Bloom & Wolf has a foolproof solution for you: switch to silk flowers!
